Quarter cut, broad, consistent straight stripe. Thirty years ago we called this type of Macassar ebony “Coromandel” to distinguish it from other ebonies. The blacks are a little deeper and sharper (tres charbonne) and the lights are brighter. Its tighter and smoother than most with a nice luster. Dark and exotic yet bright and alluring-the premium level of a luxury species.
